Volunteer Today
A Call to Serve, Shepherd, and Support the Next Generation in Christ
Why Volunteer
On-site volunteers are essential to the heart of this retreat.
Your role is not peripheral. You are not “extra help.” You are part of the structure that allows students to feel safe, seen, and supported as they wrestle with identity, faith, and vulnerability.
You help:
• maintain a steady and caring adult presence
• guide small-group conversations
• reinforce expectations and boundaries
• create an environment where transformation can occur
In many cases, students will remember how they were treated as much as what they were taught.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
By serving as an on-site volunteer, you may be asked to support the retreat in a variety of ways, including:
• Providing small-group or team leadership
• Assisting with cabin supervision and camper support
• Helping with session logistics and program flow
• Supporting student check-in, transitions, and general coordination
• Offering a consistent presence, encouragement, and pastoral care to campers
• Serving for the full duration of the retreat
• Covering your own travel to and from the Nashville area (considered a donation in kind)
• Completing required volunteer training, including:
• Virtual training sessions completed in advance on your own schedule
• In-person training early Friday morning prior to camper arrival
Volunteer training will cover:
• Retreat expectations and volunteer roles
• Camper safety, supervision, and appropriate boundaries
• How to escalate sensitive or serious situations
• Mandatory reporting procedures
• Leading and serving with humility, discretion, and care
Specific assignments will be communicated in advance and may shift as needed to ensure camper safety and the smooth operation of the retreat.
